Who are we?

Founded by Jane Fogal, Janet Duval and Chantal Garneau in May 2019, Halton Hills Climate  Action has hosted more than 20 rallies attracting hundreds of people in Halton Hills.

We have pressed politicians at four levels of government to get serious about climate action, and we now coordinate plans with climate action leaders in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and beyond.

When Halton Hills Council received a resolution to declare a climate emergency in 2019, we packed the chamber. The motion passed  unanimously. Now our Town is preparing one of the most ambitious  action plans in North America, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2030.

Code Red

The latest report from the UN International Panel on Climate Change is clear and strident: we have much less time than we thought to get to net-zero emissions. What can you do?

Remind politicians at all levels that we have a climate emergency, and that you expect them to act like it. Do this at every opportunity.

Go electric! Get an electric car, an e-bike, an electric mower, and replace any other fossil fueled devices. Visit PlugNDrive for lots of info about range, charging stations, and the vehicles that will suit your lifestyle and price range.

Retrofit your home for energy efficiency.

Travel less, especially by air, the worst transportation choice for carbon emissions (except for rockets into space.)

Eat better. More plants, less meat, and use up your leftovers. A lot of carbon went into producing and bringing that food to you!

Fix, repurpose or donate unwanted items.

Talk climate. Katharine Hayhoe, one of the most captivating speakers we’ve ever heard, tells you how. During this terrific webinar, she converted her entire audience over from feeling “worried, depressed, hopeless” to “inspired, motivated, determined”.
