Founded by Jane Fogal, Janet Duval and Chantal Garneau in 2019, Halton Hills Climate Action presses four levels of government for positive action on climate.
When Halton Hills Council received a resolution to declare a climate emergency in 2019, we packed the chamber. The motion passed unanimously. Now our Town has an ambitious plan to reach net-zero emissions by 2030.
When the province threatened to develop the Greenbelt, we joined the crusade that forced a retraction.
When expansion of a fossil-fueled power plant was proposed here in late 2023, we packed our Council chamber again and convinced Council to Say No.
Currently we have two volunteer teams focussed in specific areas:
The Town team encourages Halton Hills staff and Council to keep working towards the goal of net-zero emissions by 2030.
The Trillium team deals with Ontario and federal issues.
